May 2017 Exhibit at Partners Gallery

Transfigured:
Changed in form or appearance, transformed into something more beautiful or elevated.

I’ve thought a lot about why old barns, rusting appliances, and piles of junk can often be so visually appealing. How can decay, rot, deterioration, decomposition and corrosion make for such beauty? The fact that over time, Nature manages to take back just about everything we humans make is truly amazing. Perhaps then, it’s this marvelous process itself, this “transfiguration” that creates the beauty and elevates everything it affects. In turn, the artist “transfigures” the visual signs of nature’s process of reclamation into works of art.

Such a marvelous cycle!
